The Hidden Vine: Northern Portugal

August is almost over, so I stopped by The Hidden Vine after work to taste the remaining wines from this month’s featured region: Northern Portugal. I had already tasted the White Wine Sampler, on a previous visit.

CAV: Slovenia

I visited CAV Wine Bar after work, to taste the Slovenia wine flight.

I had the first two wines (a Chardonnay and a Pinot Gris) with the Halibut Crudo and the Cornmeal Fried Green Tomatoes.

And, I enjoyed the last two wines (a Cabernet Franc and a Muscat) with a single cheese plate.

It was an unusual night at CAV.

The Hidden Vine: Northern Portugal

I visited The Hidden Vine late in the afternoon, on my way to a show at the DNA Lounge. This month’s featured region is Northern Portugal, but I started with a taste of a New Zealand Riesling (2006 Milton Gisborne Riesling, Opou Vineyard) not on the menu.

Then, because it felt like Summer, I had the White Portugese Sampler, with two cheeses.

August is almost over, but I have to return before September to try the Red Portugese Sampler and the Port Sampler

CAV: Greece and Turkey

I had to stop by CAV Wine Bar tonight, to congratulate Pamela and her crew on being named Sunset Magazine’s Best Wine Bar of the Year for 2007. And, while I was there, I enjoyed the 5-wine “Greece and Turkey” wine flight
