Que Syrah: Funky Red Blends

It was Sunday afternoon, and I was at Que Syrah, for their Funky Red Blends flight.

After the red flight, accompanied by a three cheese plate, I enjoyed a glass of Madeira.

Then, I went home for a quiet Sunday evening.

  • Orin Swift 2005 “The Prisoner”, Napa

and the cheeses

  • Abbaye de Belloc — France
    sheep’s milk, semi-hard, dense cheese with buttery, nutty nuances and carmelized brown sugar on the finish
  • Chèvre Noir — Canada
    goat’s milk, semi-firm, aged for 12 months with nutty, caramel butter accents and melt-in-the-mouth texture
  • Mahon — Isle of Minorca, Spain
    cow’s milk, aged for one year, firm texture, sharp, slightly salty flavor

and the Madeira

  • Blandy’s Alvada 5 Year Old Madeira

It was a very relaxing hour.
