Places To Go

It was my first visit to the San Francisco Zoo since 2007. I brought my friend Andrea, who had never been to this zoo, so I did not stop for as many photographs as usual. We entered the zoo around 10:30am. Andrea had walked her two dogs, before meeting me at the zoo, and said she had not had time for shower. I think this tapir may have noticed:

It took a special effort to be at the SF Zoo early this morning, because I was out very late Friday night. But, on less then 6 hours sleep, I was through the gates before 10am, enjoying Members' Morning for October. I had two goals for this weekend: (1) to photograph some different animals, and (2) to collect info for some unlabeled photographs from previous visits.

These "different animals" included the tapirs and the capybara



and the Francois' langur

Two sunny weekend mornings in a row, and I was back at the San Francisco Zoo, by 10:30am. As with yesterday, this was about 1/2 hour later than I'd hoped to be there, but once again it was neither too crowded nor too hot. I spent my first hour or so watching (and photographing) the primates

Finally, a sunny weekend morning! I was at the San Francisco Zoo by 10:30am —later than I'd hoped, but it was neither too hot nor too crowded. Before lunch, I spent some time at the Children's Zoo, watching (and photographing) the birds on "Hawk Hill", in front of the Koret Animal Resource Center

It was a cloudy morning, but I just got a new telephoto lens (70-300mm) for my DSLR, and I wanted to use it. What better place than the San Francisco Zoo — just a short ride from home on the L Taraval line.
